Product Overview

This German breed of chickens originated in 1970 and did not make it here to the states until 2011. It was bred by cross breeding different varieties of chickens to create a unique bird with desirable traits. This bird is very unique because of the pink undertone to it’s feathers. Males and females are very unique from each other even when they first hatch making it a popular bird because of its auto-sexing. brown eggs. Popular because of its unique camouflage pattern making it safe from predators on your free range homestead. Did you know you can cut the expense of feed by having free range chickens that forage for its meals? A very tame bird it is also a good pet as it is playful, watchful, and intelligent. This breed is popular among chicken farmers and is another fine breed of chickens for sale at Valley Hatchery.

Bielefelder hens weigh in around 6.5 pounds and are great egg layers even in winter with up to 230 eggs per year. They occasionally become broody. Roosters weigh about 8.5 pounds. They are not APA recognized.
