Valley Hatchery is excited to offer Japanese Bantam Chickens, a unique and ornamental breed that is often used for exhibition. These active birds are known for their short legs and large upright tails that reach much higher than their heads. They are also known to lay a fair amount of small tinted eggs. Roosters generally weigh 26oz, while hens weigh 22oz.
Japanese Bantam Chickens are available in a variety of colors, including Black, Black Tailed Buff, Gray, Mottled, White, and Black Tailed White. This breed has a short history, with the first documented exports to Europe and the United States occurring around the time of the Meiji Restoration in 1868. A breed society was formed in 1912, and an international breed club was formed in 1937. Japanese Bantam Chickens are also known to occasionally go broody, making them a great choice for those looking to raise their own chicks.
Valley Hatchery is proud to offer these beautiful and unique birds, and we can’t wait for you to add Japanese Bantam Chickens to your flock!
