Valley Hatchery is excited to offer Black Spanish Turkeys, a rare and heritage breed also known as Norfolk Turkeys. These birds are characterized by their solid black coloration with a beautiful greenish luster and no barring. When they are born, Black Spanish turkey poults have a black body with a white face. As they mature, Black Spanish turkey hens will begin laying eggs at around 9 months of age.
Black Spanish Turkeys are primarily used for exhibition and meat/egg production. They are an active breed and lay relatively few eggs per year, but these eggs tend to be large to extra-large and off-white in color. Toms of this breed generally weigh 23lbs, while hens weigh 14lbs. Black Spanish Turkeys are native to Europe and are recognized by the APA. Keep in mind that these birds may be prone to going broody. At Valley Hatchery, we are dedicated to providing high-quality Black Spanish Turkeys that are perfect for a variety of purposes.
