Valley Hatchery is proud to offer Fawn and White Runner Ducks, a dual-purpose breed that is both energetic and hardworking. These ducks have an upright, vertical posture and a playful, whimsical nature that make them a joy to watch. With their striking fawn or ginger-colored patches on the face, neck, chest, shoulders, and tail, and bright orange feet, these ducks are truly eye-catching. Both drakes and hens have bluish brown eyes, but drakes have lighter colored orange-green bills while hens have darker brownish-green bills.
Fawn and White Runner Ducks are known for their excellent egg-laying abilities, with the ability to produce 100-165 large to extra-large white eggs per year. They are also very effective at controlling pests and insects, making them a sustainable and organic option for pest control in gardens, fields, playgrounds, and more. Despite their nervous disposition, these ducks are generally good pets and make for great exhibition birds due to their strong instinct to herd together.
Originating in Indonesia, Fawn and White Runner Ducks have a long history dating back to the 14th century when they were imported to Europe and Great Britain. They were the first Runner Duck coloration to be admitted into the APA in 1898. Drakes generally weigh 4lbs and hens 3lbs, and they have the tendency to go broody. If you’re looking for a breed that is both productive and delightful to watch, consider adding Fawn and White Runner Ducks to your homestead.
