Valley Hatchery is thrilled to present our Guinea Keets special, a curated selection of high-quality guinea varieties, including White, Lavender, Pearl, and Royal Purple. These resilient birds, indigenous to the West Coast of Africa, boast a rich history dating back to ancient Egypt and Greece, where they were highly esteemed for their meat and eggs. Not only are Guinea Fowl recognized for their robust watchdog abilities and proficiency in controlling ticks and bugs, but their feathers also serve a dual purpose—they can be used for crafting decorations and are highly sought after for fly fishing (fly tying).
Visually sexing Guinea Fowl may pose a challenge, yet their distinct vocalizations provide essential clues. Males typically emit a concise one-syllable call (chit, chit, chit), while females articulate a more elaborate two-syllable call (buck-wheat, buck-wheat). Known for their secretive nesting habits, these birds expertly conceal nests, delighting onlookers with a substantial group of keets when granted the freedom to roam. Additionally, Guinea Fowl exhibit a preference for roosting high in trees.
It’s important to note that our Guinea Keet special includes a diverse array of guinea varieties, depending on the hatch at the hatchery. The element of surprise adds to the excitement, as we cannot guarantee a specific variety. Varieties sent are not recorded or noted, enhancing the thrill of this special. Don’t miss the chance to enrich your flock with these captivating and versatile birds through Valley Hatchery’s Guinea Keet special.
