Olive Egger Chickens are primarily used for egg production. They are an active bird that lay 180-200 medium to large olive-green eggs per year. Roosters generally weigh 6.5lbs and hens 5.5lbs. The breed originated in the United States and is not APA recognized. Olive Egger Chickens do not tend to go broody. Valley Hatchery breeds Cream Legbars and Welsummers to produce our Olive Eggers. Egg shell can vary from hen to hen, all hens will have the genes to produce a variety of the olive egg shell color; 96% of hens will produce olive colored eggs.
