Welsummer Chickens are primarily used for egg production. They are an active bird that lay 200-280 medium to large dark brown eggs per year. Roosters generally weigh 7lbs and hens 6lbs. The breed originated in Holland and is APA recognized. They are shown in the Continental Class. Welsummer Chickens can occasionally go broody.
