Brown Leghorn is an Italian chicken breed, once known as “Italians”. One of the best egg layers with pure white eggs, Brown Leghorn, can produce up to 300 eggs annually. The downside of that exceptional egg-laying quality is that hens don't go broody, and an incubator is necessary for reproduction. Brown Leghorn is often categorized as the same breed as White Leghorn, and that's technically true, but there are some significant differences between the two. Brown Leghorn is much bigger than white ones (up to 7 lbs roosters). Extremely active, with the dominant wild gene, these chickens need vast space to roam freely.
