Description

Developed in 1996, Valley Hatchery’s Golden Hybrid Ducklings represent an advanced choice for egg production, combining superior qualities of egg size, fertility, and temperament. Unlike the Khaki Campbell, these hybrids stand out with their calm nature and high egg yield, laying between 200-290 large white eggs per year. Uniquely, the males and females can be distinguished at any age by color – males exhibit black shades while females range from light to dark brown, often with white patches. However, it’s important to note that their progeny won’t retain this distinct color-sex linkage. Adult Golden Hybrids display a diverse color palette; females range from a light golden to a dark brown with white patches, while males can resemble Rouens or Cayugas. They are hardy across all climates and mature within 20-24 weeks, reaching a weight of 4.5-5.75 lbs. Although they are not recognized by the APA and lack flying ability, their friendly and calm personality makes them a valuable addition to any flock. Their foraging ability is good, but they are more suited for egg production than as pets. It’s also noteworthy that the Golden Layer variant has a slightly higher chance of laying blue or green eggs compared to the Khaki Campbell, adding a unique aspect to their egg-laying capabilities. Overall, the Golden Hybrid Ducklings from Valley Hatchery offer a blend of high productivity, distinctive appearance, and adaptability, making them an excellent choice for backyard farmers and commercial egg producers alike.
