Not jolly green giants, but they do have a green satiny sheen to their black plumage and are definitely giant! Their 1st and 2nd stage feathers show some white but at 6 months of maturity reach their true color. This heavy breed originated in Burlington County , New Jersey in the 1800’s. They are a dual purposed bird best known for meat production and can be fair egg layers. Broody setter. Eggs are medium brown and in excess of 180 annually or as many as 260. Docile tame nature. They are not popular as a broiler largely because of their poor feed to weigh ratio. Largest of heaviest breed birds.
