Description

Valley Hatchery’s Mallard Ducklings offer an authentic experience of raising a breed that is central to the ancestry of most domestic ducks, excluding the Muscovy. Native to the Northern Hemisphere, these small, agile ducks are renowned for their excellent flying ability and are a popular choice among hunters. Weighing 2.25-2.5 lbs, they exhibit friendly and calm personalities, making them an ornamental delight rather than a pet. The males develop their striking brown and tan coloring at about 14-16 weeks. They are hardy in all climates, reach maturity in 20-24 weeks, and lay 60-120 white to bluish-green eggs annually. Known for their self-reliance and efficient foraging, Mallards are excellent mothers and provide natural insect control. Notably, our domestically hatched Mallards are identified as per US Fish and Wildlife regulations by removing a back toe at hatch, ensuring compliance without the need for additional marking.
