Juveniles may exhibit black or gray, but they mature into a fully feathered white adult plumage by 21 weeks of age. They have a friendly and calm personality, suitable as pets, and typically weigh between 11.5 to 14 pounds. The adults are predominantly white, while the chicks are yellow at birth. Hardy in all climates, these geese are classified as a light breed by the American Poultry Association (APA) and lay about 20-30 white eggs annually. They demonstrate good mothering skills and are efficient in weeding. The breed is currently listed as ‘Critical’ by the Livestock Conservancy.
