Description

Discover the unique charm and utility of Muscovy Ducklings, an ideal addition to any homestead or backyard flock. Originating from Brazil, these ducks exhibit a friendly and calm personality, making them excellent pets. Their distinctive plumage and yellow chick coloring, combined with the ability to fly proficiently, ensure they stand out both in appearance and survival skills. Notably hardy in various climates and classified as a Heavy breed by the APA,  Muscovies mature around 28-29 weeks. With an impressive annual egg production of 100-150 large white eggs, these ducks also excel in mothering, although their eggs require around 35 days to hatch, slightly longer than other breeds. Apart from their egg-laying prowess, Muscovies are renowned for their meat quality. Being 98% fat-free, their meat is the leanest among duck breeds, with males potentially reaching 15 pounds and females averaging around 8 pounds. This aspect, coupled with their excellent foraging ability, makes them a sustainable choice for meat production. Unique to their species, Muscovies do not quack loudly, a trait that’s advantageous for keeping neighborhood peace. They are the only domestic duck breed not derived from the Mallard, setting them apart genetically. Their nesting habits are also unique, preferring trees over ground nests, which enhances their protection from predators. In conclusion,  Muscovy Ducklings are a remarkable breed that offers a blend of serene personality, efficient egg production, high-quality lean meat, and adaptability, making them a perfect choice for both novice and experienced duck enthusiasts.
